Summer Exhibition 2022

Our first summer exhibition since 2019 was held at the Strand Centre in July 2022 – and we were delighted it was a successful one. Over the last 3 years our membership has changed with some older members deciding not to return after Covid and others moving away from the area. However, the group has attracted new members who were exhibiting their work at the Strand Centre for the first time.

Local artist Louise Bougourd judged the paintings and awarded prizes in various categories, as given below.

Visitors to the exhibition were asked to vote for their favourite painting and the winner this year was Liz Brown for The Red Bag. A popular exhibit was a collaborative piece featuring an orange steam punk image, painted by members in sections and then reassembled.

We were very pleased with both the sales and the encouraging responses from visitors. And are looking forward to some of the group exhibiting their work at another exhibition, this time at Beachcomber on the Den, Teignmouth from Saturday 13 August to Friday 19.

Summer Exhibition 2018

We held our Summer Exhibition between Tuesday 24th July and Saturday 28th July 2018 at the Strand Centre, Dawlish. This year’s exhibition was one of the best we have had in terms of visitor numbers and sales of paintings and cards. We were very busy every day with many paintings being sold in the first few days.

A local artist, Sonya Marshall, kindly agreed to judge our artwork at the Preview Evening and went on to present the prizes, explaining why she had chosen certain works and mentioning other paintings that had come close to winning.

The exhibition was then opened by Mayor Lisa Mayne with words of encouragement and praise for the exhibitors.

The list of prizewinners for 2018 is as follows:

Watercolour – The Pam Penny Prize – Jeanette Waldron – Sparkling Seas
